Mora Rocks the Park is a collaboration between the Better Together Coalition, the City of Mora, and Kanabec County that works to build community connection, increase positive childhood experiences, and support wellbeing in our community.
Community events for kids and families, like Mora Rocks the Park, help support healthy development, strengthen social connections, and reduce the risk of substance use. When families have opportunities to participate in safe, positive, and engaging community activities, kids build a sense of belonging, connection, and support from adults and peers in the community. Strong social connections, supportive relationships, and opportunities for healthy engagement are key protective factors that support youth mental health and reduce the likelihood of youth experimenting with substances. These events are intended to help reduce isolation, encourage healthy coping skills, and provide enjoyable alternatives to risky behaviors. By having activities available for people of all ages, we hope to create spaces where community members can connect and grow their sense of community.
